Osa Beautiful!

As I sit here writing this blog in the lodge main room, it’s quiet – the students and chaperones are getting a safety tour of the Jungle Lodge grounds from the Morgan family. I’m listening to some traditional Costa Rican music on the solar powered sound system. There’s a great breeze today and it’s unbelievable for us to be here in paradise. Kind of like something you’d see in a movie. Make sure to check out some of the pictures below I took with my waterproof camera case – not perfect, but it’s cool to float around not having to worry about ruining the camera. Keeps me closer to the students for some better pictures – and they all are having a blast so far. They got in a quick swim before lunch and homework time. I think they’ll sleep well tonight…

The flights went well – incredible views that one of our bloggers, Emily , will tell you about. You will also hear from Alex in our first ever video blog. Alex will host a tour of some of the amenities here. You will also hear from one of our chaperones, Jeanne Ruggieri and get her perspective on this adventure.

Hey everyone its Emily. We went to a local place for dinner last night and we had really good sea food. After dinner we went shopping for a little bit to some local shops. When we went back to the hotel we all went in the hot tub for a couple minutes before it was bed time. We all went up to our rooms around 8:30(Costa Rica time).
The next morning eight people woke up at 4:30 to go to breakfast and catch a puddle hopper flight at 6:00. The rest of us woke up at around 6:00 to eat breakfast and get on our plane ride at 8:30 to Puerto Jimenez. The plane ride was very fun and exciting. When we started it was a little bumpy but once we got above the clouds it was all good from there. Once we got there we were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. We all got on a big bus and took a ride around the town. When we finally arrived to the Jungle Lodge we all gathered around the big table and had a little safety talk regarding to the lodge its self.
I just wanted to say hello to my mom, dad, and brother Brad. I am having so much fun with everyone. I am having probably one of the best times of my life and I am just so excited to have nine more days of sunny and hot weather.

Our chaperone Jeanne

Spectacular! That is the only word I can use to describe this morning’s plane ride from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez. I had been worried about that flight since I accepted the position as a chaperone. After a few bumps (until we got above the clouds) it was smooth sailing.

This trip has been a wonderful respite from the real world. As you can see from the pictures, the Golfo Dulce has been entertaining as well as refreshing.

For all you parents out there- you have all obviously done something right along the way because this group of kids have been sensational! All of them are getting along great, including each other in the activities and having a great time. Thanks to all of you back home for trusting us with your children. They are making our jobs too easy.

To Alan, Leah, family and friends- Franklin and I are having a magnificent time. We love you and miss you. We will have many stories to tell. How lucky we are to be able to make this trip together. Day 2- still rodent free!

  4. Hi Max-
We're all seeing what a great time you are having. Jeannie, Addison, Claudia Como, Lindsay and Mom & Dad are at Uncle Sandy and Aunt Bridgitt's for Will's birthday. We had steaks and great veggies and birthday cake. We are trying to have as good a time as you are!

The weather was TERRIFIC today-75 degrees & sunny (in Florida...) really it was about 60, but nice. We miss you all, and we know that soon you will all be doing the work that you were sent to do-right Mr. Laudemann?

Tell Mr. Morgan that I got bitten, he'll know what that means. I seem to think that the trip requires a PR officer-photographer-type...soften him up a bit!

Take care and be alert to the screaming monkees!

    Randy,
I really liked seeing the tiny plane - was it a fun ride? How's it like sleeping in a room with all those guys? Did you hear cool night sounds? (or just snoring...lol) Very cool place, I look forward to watching the blog this week!

  15. Danielle, it's great to see you're having a fantastic time and it appears you're feeling better... Stay healthy and don't forget the sunscreen. Philip and I are enjoying some quiet time at home and getting the spring yard work done. Of course the basketball tournament is taking up some of our time as well... Mom is doing better with her knee so don't worry about her too much. We miss you... Oh, I fell asleep when I got back home and didn't get the papers to Lilliana until just before lunch. I hope that was alright.. Maybe Mr. Luaderman brought the tests you missed so you can make them up whilt the material is fresh in your mind...

Hope all of the crew continues to have a fun and safe journey... Thanks again to all the chaperones!!!

  16. The trip looks spectacular! The blog and the pictures are fantastic! Alex, I loved your video tour! Nice addition ... Thanks for allowing us to follow the trip along with you. Reading the blog each day is a treat for all of us back in the states. Do me a favor, though ... clearly, the sun and the beauty of the Osa Peninsula have fried your brains ... please take off your last names from the blog ... you know better! Where are my student leaders? Jeanne, I was hoping to hear rodent stories! There’s still time, you know! Stay safe and have a blast!

To All: Rick helped coach the 8th grade boys' baseball season opener today (we played with 9 players, 3 of whom are 7th graders), and they won 10-0. Everyone played well, but the consensus is that they really missed you and need you to come back to keep the winning "streak" going!
Alex...loved your video blog -- great job!
Jeannie...You should keep a running tally on the blog of "rodent-free days" you have!
Cameron...hope you are still having a blast. Your dad and I really look forward to the blog every evening to see how you all are doing. Kudos to CB! Take care -- we are thinking of you every day.

To all the kids. Great experience for all of you. One bad apple spoils a barrelfull, however.Too bad you can't use your last names as they were used when you were christened. Identity theft gets to us all. Your hosts are great and should be complemented. Mrs Campbell.
